So more planning

So I have been doing some more planning and more thinking about my trip.. I keep on day dreaming in class it really isn't good. But anyways, I have come up with a little plan of what I want to do and where.. When I arrive in Santiago I would like to travel in a downward trend towards the south pole well the closest you can get to it I guess to a town called Ushuaia in Argentina. The way I need to go to get there is from Santiago, Chile to Puerto Montt, Chile then to Punta Arenas, Chile then finally onto Ushuaia, Argentina. This whole thing will probably take around 3 days just by bus which would be quite interesting to see the country but not much to do apart from being on a bus I guess.. Should be cool to see the culture around the number of different towns I will be visiting though.. On the way back I'm still considering if I have enough time to go everywhere I want to go as I want to go all the way back up along the eastern coast stopping at probably Rio Gallegos, Argentina then Punta Alta probably then up to Buenos Aires and catch a ferry across to Montevideo. This part I'm actually really looking forward to and also Ushuaia. The other option is to fly between Rio Gallegos and Buenos Aires which only costs US$104 which is an option as going by bus is going to cost me around US$70 anyways but then again I can get that sorted when I get there because I have both options and also more information then when I'm actually on the ground in Chile. Although I do have to learn spanish to benefit from speaking to people. Alas, I don't know how many weeks this will take hopefully not more than 3 weeks we'll see. There's another problem i face at the moment is how to get a tourist visa for Cuba as there is no embassy here in NZ or anywhere near New Zealand the closes one is in Indonesia. In addition to this no one I know, knows how to get a visa not even at the travel agent that I bought the ticket from.. But thats a little further down the track then Santiago and Rio. I did take a look at how much accommodation will cost me though and it seems that I might be paying more for accommodation than I originally thought. Well the internet seems to lie sometimes and you never know what it's like when you get there as with what I experienced in Fiji. Don't get me wrong I loved my time in Fiji and the people I met were great, it was just that the culture was totally different to what I'm used to back here in New Zealand. So I think I'm going to play it safe this time round and see what I'm paying for before deciding what to do. If any of you people who read this blog have any suggestions as to what I should see or where I should say tell me cause I'm all ears.

OK go

All righty..
As the people who know me, would have known the last blog I tried to put together didn't go that well after some idiot decided to post comments that didn't relate to my site and was basically spam I have not done much in the way of blogging anymore.. Alas.. I have started again as this is my blog for my huge trip next year to the world...

Boy meets world story begins now i guess, it's nearly 7 months before I leave but you gotta start somewhere right.

So I will start by listing the places I will be visiting well flying to anyway.

I leave good old home, Auckland on the 2nd of April 2008, on to Santiago, Chile where I will hopefully get to see a lot of nice beaches and being culture shocked.. I'm a little worried about the language barrier actually considering I'm not entire sure what language they speak in Chile yet.. Maybe I should find that out.. Wikipedia here I come.. Being able to say the basic stuff like Hi, how are you, what's the price would come in useful, me thinks. Anyway back to my destinations, I fly from Santiago to Sao Paulo, Brazil then to Lima, Peru which will end the South American part of my journey, in which I hope will take me 3 months maybe more.. After Lima I will be flying to Mexico City in Mexico where I hope to see the ancient city of Tenochtitlan which I saw on a discovery documentary and ever since then wanted to visit and see where they managed to sacrifice like 84,000 people in 4 days man that's alot of sacrificing.. Anyway more on that when I get there and see the place..
Then hopefully from there I will get a bus to Cancun also a place which I saw a movie of and want to go visit but sadly I won't be there when spring break is in full swing but I wouldn't mind going to Fat Tuesdays just to see.. Onward and outward from there to Cuba which I have heard great brillient almost unreal stories about how great Cuba is.. Well there's one thing that I have to try when I get there and that is a cigar.. It's strange how I always seem to try all the crazy drugs and illegal stuff when I'm not at home, I mean I had to go all the way to Fiji before I tried dope.. I must say it didn't have that much of an effect on me i didn't feel any changes but anywho I digress again..

Next destination which wasn't really what I wanted is Dallas, Texas but in saying that maybe it would be good to interact with and see why the people of this region love bush so much.. They must be really strange people.. but oh well, its their choice right. From there I go to Vancouver, Canada this part of the trip I'm looking forward to a little, with all the cool stories I have heard and people that have raved about the place and it's beauty. From Vancouver I fly to New York where I will hopefully meet my Aunty whom I have not seen for awhile during this part I would like to go to Quebec a place I fell in love with ever since I went there last time. From New York I fly to Miami, Florida this would be interesting to see if the beaches are really as nice as they deplict and also if there's million dollar cars everywhere... umm wonder if I can ask if I can take a drive around one for a little while. Just once around the block to the keys and back maybe...

Ok maybe a little hopeful but still on to San Juan, Costa Rica wow I just thought that San Juan was part of Puerto Rico that was a bad mistake, I can just imagine me getting on the wrong plane and ending up in the middle of no where, well that's normal and not that unexpected of me but still a little un-nerving.. Still.. From San Juan I fly to Madrid, Spain where I will be travelling around Europe for around 4 months visiting friends and the like.. Leaving from London to Dubai, another culture shocking nation but I don't think it's that bad from what I've heard about it be westernised to accomodate the fledging economy so my idea of a middle east maybe ill conceived.

Asia here I come... Dubai to Hong Kong where I will travel to Beijing and see the great wall and the forbidden city.. Umm finally I will be getting some chinese heritage.. then from Hong Kong I will go to Mumbai, India where I have no idea what I should expect with the over crowded trains and the like that would be kinda fun to go along a rail road at full speed, but only with me sitting on the top of the train not in it... Umm... After India I will end up in Thailand where I will hopefully go to the countries surrounding like Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and the like would be interesting I tell ya to see all the skulls and the killing fields.. Then on to Tokyo, Japan.. Wow so looking forward to the Sushi but then again I'm not entirely sure that it's an everyday food in Japan like here at home.. Maybe I will try some whale whilst i'm at it.. maybe we'll see.. and NO I don't support the killing of whales for meat.. but it's an experience you know.. After racking up the miles on the plane flying from Thailand I will be flying back to the region this time Bali.. where I should watch out for my bags and make sure people don't stick stuff in my bag that shouldn't be there... Umm... Nick no ideas from you.... from Bali the trip returns to normal as I fly to Perth and relax for abit.. then from Perth to Brisbane and time to go to the Great Barrier Reef and see the wildlife.. Then finally back home..

Wow writing it all out like this does make the trip sound so much more exciting that dreaming about it and thinking what if.. It's still sort of sinking in that I have spent $5000 in one go just to see the world.. My god I've gone mad I tell ya..

Oh well stuff happens and it's a once in a life time experience right.. Gotta make the most of it though...

Here's a map of the flight journey

Until next time..
